Makarov PM. Probably the most important reason that explains why I posted this is very simple. The creator,Nikolai Fyodorovich Makarov, has the same exact last name as me. As simple as that.It was adopted by the Soviet Rifle in 1951 and remained it's official sidearm until 2003. The reason the design was accepted over many other competitors was simple. It had few moving parts, economy, ease of manufacture, accuracy, and reasonable power. Due to that, many label the Makarov as the best self defense pistols of it's time.
